HH Partners is a Finnish business law firm with technology and IP matters as one of its focus areas. They do for example advise clients in all type of technology and outsourcing contracts and transactions; software licensing; and technology and IP litigation, such as project disputes, patent and copyright litigation. According to Chambers Europe (2009), regarding Finnish law firms: "Market sources praise this firm for its proficiency in a broad variety of matters, from patent litigation, trade mark and domain name matters to copyright issues.” Further, the same publication notes on HH Partners’ IT expertise: ”Sources single out Alf-Ole Wanamo and Martin Von Willebrand as the firm’s most visible IT experts, and say that both deserve praise for their experience of the field.“ 

As to open source assignments, they have advised clients in using open source; publishing open source; open source strategies, policies and procedures; and validation of open source software. HH Partners advised MySQL AB in its preparation for IPO or eventual trade sale as regards corporate, intellectual property and employment matters (Sun Microsystems purchased MySQL in early 2008). HH Partners is also the inventor, one of the founders and service provider of Validos (www.validos.org) – a collaborative approach for companies to diligently validate free and open source packages.

Open source matters are headed by Partner Martin von Willebrand. Martin started advising clients in open source matters during early 2000 and he has, apart of experience in a wide variety of open source matters, transactions and copyright litigation, also hands-on experience from Linux and other open source software (Red Hat since 1996). Martin is also the Chairman of the Board of the Finnish IT Law Association (2009-) and recommended for his experience in the technology field by a wide variety of international publications, such as Legal500, Chambers Europe, Best Lawyers and Practical Law Company.
