China OSS Promotion Union (COPU) is a social alliance voluntarily formed by enterprises, public institutions, and non-government organizations committed to the cause of Open Source Software development and applications under the guidance of national industrial administration departments. It does not stand as an independent corporate legal person.
The aim of COPU is to converge the strength of Chinese and international OSS communities as well as the strength of its corporate and public institution members to promote domestic OSS development and applications, to promote OSS cooperation among China, Japan and Korea, to promote the global OSS development and applications and to serve the construction of OSS industrial chain and applications of solutions. COPU will bring into full play its role of bridging the government with enterprises in policy guidance and implementation, its role of bridging enterprises with the users, enterprises with each other, domestic enterprises with their foreign counterparts in communication, combination and cooperation in terms of R&D, manufacturing, training and applications, etc.
