Eclipsecon is the grand forum, where the masterminds of open source software go to share their knowledge and gain exciting new talents, as their peers provide them with the latest updates. Where open source colleagues collaborate and do whiteboard planning for the next generation of APIs and features. Eclipsecon, the forum for OS aficionados to speak and create the most revolutionary tools on the planet.

At Eclipsecon, SPDX Group will be hosting a “Birds of Feather”(Bof) workshop highlighting SPDX 1.0, a standard format for communicating the components, licenses, and copyrights associated with a software package. With the participation of our group members (Antelink, Protecode and many more), we will be illustrating SPDX 1.0 to conference attendees to help them visualize industry best practices and challenges. SPDX 1.0 was created to provide open source users/managers a standard format for all B2B interactions, so the information presented is clear and concise across the entire Open Source community. SPDX Group is helping businesses to simplify the way they communicate their Open Source licensing, while reducing the challenges felt by their partners and end users.

SPDX 1.0 is a solution that is supported throughout the industry, as a product that increases compliance and helps to reduce overall budgeting costs. Most companies in today’s software environment are searching for new ways to eliminate risks and increase productivity, so that they may produce positive results in their bottom-line. SPDX offers the consistency and efficiency that is needed across the various open source communication channels, and thereby accelerates lifecycle management to enable a compliance free use of Open Source software.
