Black Duck Software marked the first anniversary of the release of GPLv3 with a study of trends in its use. They find that 2345 open source projects have opted to use the license, but that the majority remains with version 2: roughly 58% of FOSS projects use the GPLv2 and 11% the LGPLv2, including popular projects like Linux, JBoss and Hibernate.
